Freezing cold temperatures have resulted in the FIBT (Federation Internationale de Bobsleigh et de Tobogganing) making a change to the World Cup Skeleton & Bobsleigh competition schedule. The FIBT has decided to swap the Women's Bobsleigh race scheduled for Thursday night with the Men's 2-Man Bobsleigh race scheduled for Friday night.
The ice on the track is quite brittle as a result of the cold temperatures, so the heavier sleds have more of an impact on the ice surface. As a result, all Bobsleigh practice times have been shifted to later in the training schedule, which in turn impacts the competition schedule.
Tickets already purchased for the event are valid for the date purchased. No refunds. World Cup tickets are on sale for $10 per day (not including taxes and service charges) through www.whistler.com, by calling 1.800.WHISTLER (1.800.944.7853), or in person at the Whistler Information Centre. Children 6 and under are free.
Spectators are encouraged to take the Excalibur Gondola up to the Whistler Sliding Centre. For full event information, please visit www.whistlerslidingcentre.com
