Golf in Whistler: Extras for Everyone
Tourism Whistler News Release
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Whistler, B.C. – Whistler's four championship golf courses offer unparalleled golf for every skill level, but the golfing experience doesn't have to stop there – great incentives for kids, ladies' specials, wellness options and fun family golf activities can round-out a perfect golf vacation.
"The variety of golf offered in Whistler is definitely a unique feature to the resort," said Alan Kristmanson, Chair of Golf Whistler and Director of Golf at the Whistler Golf Club. "But what is also a bonus to a golf vacation in Whistler is the variety of extra golf-themed options from specialty massages, to ladies evenings, to challenging mini golf excursions for the whole family."
Home to dozens of premiere spas as well as world-class sports medicine and health specialists, Whistler's wellness community continues to grow rapidly. Of special interest to golfers is a unique Golfer's Massage at The Spa at the Four Seasons Resort Whistler. This 60 or 90 minute customized massage concentrates on the shoulders, upper back, chest and hips, as well as the forearms and wrists – and uses heated golf balls for added effect! For more information visit tourismwhistler.com/www/accommodations. This massage is the perfect 19th hole after an afternoon of the fairways of The Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club, Nicklaus North Golf Course, Whistler Golf Club, and Big Sky Golf and Country Club.
The David Leadbetter Golf Academy, at The Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club is offering Golf the Pain Away deluxe retreats August 27 - September 2 and September 24 - 30. This lavish package includes golf lessons and video analysis, workshops, a private chef, spa treatments, yoga sessions, luxury accommodations and many other extras.
Ladies nights are scheduled on a regular basis at each of the four championship golf courses, including special pricing and dinners. And family fun can be had by all at The Little Mountain Golf Centre in the Blackcomb Base Adventure Zone, operating until September 4 from 10 p.m. to 6 p.m., with extended hours on Saturdays until 8 p.m. A skilled master at mini golf, but not hitting the big league courses yet? The Riverside Greens Putting Course is a professionally designed real grass 18-hole putting course. The pro shop provides putter rentals for adults and children and also serves soft drinks, ice cream and snacks. Open for daytime and nighttime play, it's fun for the whole family and yet challenging enough for the avid golfer.
Not to be forgotten is the family-friendly program launched last summer to encourage the new generation of golfers: the Kids Play Free program. Youths from 10 - 18 years of age play free when accompanied by a paying adult at the three village-based Whistler golf courses.
Stay and Play Whistler Golf Packages are currently available from $594 Cdn ($530 US) and include two nights' accommodation and golf at three Whistler courses.
